WHAT IS RAISE KANSAS?
Raise Kansas is a coalition of women who are dedicated to reducing the number of hungry kids in Shawnee County.
WHAT’S THE PROBLEM?
Too many children are hungry. One in five kids in Shawnee County lives in poverty and may live with families that find themselves without enough food some point during the year.
School lunch isn’t always enough. In Shawnee County, 54 percent of schoolchildren rely on free or reduced-price school lunch. However, these kids struggle to find enough to eat during summer when school is not in session.
Hunger has many consequences. Children who don’t get enough to eat don’t do as well in school and are more vulnerable to illness. Eventually, these kids are less likely to be able to properly feed their own families in the future.
WHAT CAN I DO?
We are asking women from all walks of life to come together to reduce childhood hunger in Shawnee County. Join us in our mission to raise healthier kids. For $10 dues, you’ll be part of a prestigious group of women who stand together for the well-being of Shawnee County.
